Driving at Night

September 26, 2025 Bike Information, Travel Information

It can’t be overstated how dangerous driving at night outside of the cities is in Vietnam!!! Never plan to ride between cities at night.

Outside of cities then street lights are few and far between. In the mountains or rural areas these are nonexistent. So once you are out there at night it is pitch black.

All of the twists and turns that are brilliant to ride in the day are now difficult to see. All the pot holes that were easy to avoid in the light are now impossible to see. This will bring your speed to a crawl.

The only other traffic on the road at night is the buses and trucks which are not slowing down, but in fact will be going faster with the clear roads. This speed and the blinding headlights make it much more dangerous when you pass them or they overtake you.

If something does happen and you have an accident, even just a flat tire or need petrol, then there is no one else on the road that can help, no mechanic is open nor are many of the petrol stations.

Driving at night means you don’t get to enjoy any of it anyway but there are other ways to travel safely at night. Take the bike on a bus. Many towns and cities have night buses which can take the bikes underneath. This will help you save time if you need to but still be safe.

But the most important way to avoid the need to ride at night is to make a plan that means you aren’t rushing so that you are not forced to do this. When you rent a bike with Style Motorbikes then we will help you make this plan to ensure you have a good route which allows you to see as much as possible without rushing.
