Why the Honda Future 125

The Honda Future 125cc is the perfect step up from smaller semi-autos like the Honda Wave Alpha 110cc. It offers noticeably more power and torque, allowing two people to ride comfortably even on mountain roads or when carrying luggage.

The semi-automatic transmission gives new riders the benefits of manual control – like engine braking and smoother power delivery – without the need for a clutch lever. This makes it an excellent choice for beginners who aren’t yet ready for a full manual bike.

With front disc brakes, light handling, and a low seat height, the Future is easy to control even for shorter riders or those new to Vietnam’s traffic.

At only $13/day or $280/month with Style Motorbikes, it’s the best-value two-person motorbike rental in Vietnam – cheaper than any manual bike and more capable than smaller semi-automatics.

Its Limitations

While the Honda Future is extremely practical, it does have a few trade-offs compared to manual bikes:

  • Smaller fuel tank (4.6L): You’ll need to refuel more often on long rides like the Ho Chi Minh Highway, especially in rural areas with limited petrol stations. Carrying a small fuel bottle is recommended.
  • Under-seat fuel cap: This means you’ll have to remove luggage or the seat to refuel – not a major issue, but less convenient than front-tank models.
  • Compact frame: When riding two-up with full luggage, you’ll feel the bike’s smaller frame, especially on steep climbs or rough roads.

If comfort and power for two people are your priority, the Honda CB150 Verza or XR150L are more suitable, though at a slightly higher cost.

Who is the Honda Future 125cc Recommended for?

Beginners & First-Time Riders
The semi-auto gearbox removes the intimidation of a manual clutch while still teaching you how to shift gears – making it ideal for first-time riders in Vietnam.

Couples or Friends Riding Two-Up
If you’re traveling as a pair and can’t ride a manual bike, the Honda Future 125FI is your only suitable semi-auto option. It’s reliable, efficient, and strong enough to handle two people plus luggage.

Budget Travelers
The Honda Future is the most affordable two-person motorbike rental available – perfect for backpackers or long-term travelers who want value without compromising quality.

Mixed Riding Groups
For groups where some riders use manuals and others prefer semi-autos, the Honda Future helps everyone keep a similar pace and comfort level. It’s powerful enough to keep up with the manual bikes on the open road.
